England Sees Relief in Reservoir Levels — But Drought Warnings Persist

After weeks of dry conditions, recent rainfall has brought a modest recovery in UK reservoir stocks — though the picture remains uneven and fragile.

Across England, reservoir levels rose to 64 %, up by ~7 % week over week. Some regions, particularly in northern England, saw substantial gains. But many reservoirs in the south and east remain below average for this time of year.

Water companies and the Environment Agency continue to enforce temporary use bans and enhanced leakage management. Over half of reservoirs are still seeing falling levels, and 528 abstraction restrictions are currently in place.
