The Defence Secretary has announced that the process has begun to remove Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s remaining military rank, at the request of the King. John Healy said that such a request was made by King Charles himself.
The palace removed Andrew’s title of ‘Prince’ last Thursday. Even when other military ranks were removed in 2022, the rank of Vice Admiral of the Royal Navy was retained. That is what is now being removed.
Healy said the king had asked for Andrew’s vice-admiral rank to be removed, and that it was the right move. Andrew, who had been a hero and a prince for decades, has been in a slump since his relationship with convicted child molester Jeffrey Epstein was revealed.
