New changes to the UK driving test came into effect on Monday. The new changes will require candidates to spend longer on roads with higher speed limits. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has introduced a test that reflects the real-world driving conditions that most drivers will face after the test.
The new method was trialled at 20 test centres in the UK . 48 per cent of those who were killed or seriously injured in crashes between 2029 and 2023 were aged between 17 and 24. The changes are designed to make the road safer.
The number of stops for test takers has been reduced from four to three. The frequency of emergency stops has been reduced from one in three to one in seven. Examiners are also given the power to increase the length of independent driving.
